EducationCorps is part of the Center for Student Involvement’s Community Service Department which encourages and facilitates student involvement in student organizations, campus wide events, leadership and service opportunities.
AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities.
CREATE is an energetic research and partnership development center addressing one of the major challenges facing California and San Diego: getting our diverse community of young people prepared for, admitted to, and succeeding in college and careers in California.
The PAL program, through UC San Diego’s Education Studies Department, provides opportunities for UCSD students to work with underserved P-12 students and schools. PAL is partnered with over 40 schools to be a part of San Diego’s diverse communities. Students who participate in PAL programs have the chance to provide mentoring and tutoring to students across San Diego, and PAL offers a selection courses that help foster equitable learning practices in a variety of subject areas and disciplines.
Since 1976, EAOP initiatives at the University of California, San Diego have been in place to increase the number of low-income and ethnically underrepresented students through informational, motivational and academic preparation activities.
The Center for Student Involvement’s Community Service Area, in conjunction with the UC San Diego Bookstore and One Stop, is proud to present the UCSD Cares Campaign. The campaign strives to raise awareness and inspire action for local, national, and global social issues. UCSD Cares is a community service campaign bringing together different organizations (students, staff, faculty, alumni, and non-profit) to promote philanthropic awareness and create a unified community which truly shows that UC San Diego cares.
EducationCorps hosts “Tools for Schools” Drive every year thanks to our generous partnership with the UCSD Bookstore. School supplies can be purchased 20% off at the UCSD Bookstore during the drive and are donated to our 18 local service sites. Additionally, donated change collected at designated registers will be gifted to EducationCorps by the UCSD Bookstore to purchase additional school supplies for “Tools for Schools” beneficiaries.
Originally established as part of UC San Diego’s 50th anniversary celebration, Volunteer50 supports the campus’s mission of service by connecting campus members with volunteer opportunities and showcasing the collective impact of UC San Diego volunteers. Volunteer50 has supported EducationCorps during one-time service events at service sites, such as a Thanksgiving Event at Monarch School.
Teach For America is a growing movement of leaders who work to ensure that kids growing up in poverty get an excellent education.
